Projects Training Artists Creating New Works Developing Communities

Each performer is intimately involved in the making of each piece. The raw material of our experiences, impulses, dreams and stories is melded into each work – along with found objects, text, music and handcrafted contraptions. These elements compound with the humanity and humor of the clown to create surprising collisions between the tragic and comic worlds.

Everything starts from scratch. We begin with the seed of an idea: a spark, a question, an object that makes us laugh like crazy or wonder. We look at this beginning through the soft, simple watercolor world of the clown.

We may wander around in the dark, bumping into each other for a long time. After this period of digging, mud-slinging, watering, soul searching and sun-soaking, a teeny tiny show begins to peak its head up out of the ground. When it is so green and sparkly and bursting with life that we can't possibly keep it a secret any longer, then we bring it out into the light for you to see.
